PRESS RELEASE

Sortworthy Partners with Greystar in Central and North Florida to Celebrate Earth Week

Sortworthy, a startup focused on zero waste, is excited to announce a partnership with select Greystar properties in Central and North Florida.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL, UNITED STATES, April 13, 2023 -- Sortworthy, a startup focused on zero waste, is excited to announce a partnership with Greystar to offer a collection drive of unwanted clothes and shoes. Greystar provides world-class services in the rental residential real estate business. From April 15-22, Sortworthy and Greystar will celebrate Earth Week by strategically placing collection bins in the leasing office across Orlando, Kissimmee, Altamonte Springs, Oviedo, Windermere, Winter Garden, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Destin, and Panama City.

The recycling drive, with conveniently located bins, will make it easier for residents to discard unwanted clothes and shoes. Textile waste is a significant contributor of waste to the environment. Each year, about 90% of shoe waste ends up in landfills. It contaminates the environment by emitting chemicals into the soil and groundwater. Sortworthy believes nearly 95% of used clothing can be reused or recycled. The partnership will have Greystar significantly impact each of the communities served by reducing items going to the landfill while also engaging in the education and conversation of the importance of textile recycling.

Sortworthy is a for-profit organization with the mission of contributing an impact on the waste issues threatening the environment. In addition to diverting waste from the landfill, Sortworthy will make a financial contribution on behalf of Greystar to Camp Hope and St. Jude. The Greystar Gives initiative supports each of these charities.
